Construction of Greenhouses in Shymkent Discussed at KAZAKH INVEST
Chairman of the Executive Board of JSC “NC “KAZAKH INVEST,” Yerzhan Yelekeyev, met with the Vice-President of the Turkish group of companies Alarko, Abbas Sahin, and the General Director of its subsidiary company Alsera KZ LLP, Günay Gokalp. During the meeting, the parties discussed the construction of a modern greenhouse complex in Shymkent.
Alarko, which has entered into an investment contract with the Investment Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, intends to invest $150 million in the country’s agro-industrial sector at the first stage of the project through the construction of greenhouses with a total area of 200 hectares with the creation of about 1,750 jobs. The greenhouses are planned to produce up to 50,000 tons of tomatoes per year. The company is currently preparing for construction and installation work. The project is expected to be commissioned in 2026.
“Our company has operated in your country for the last 32 years. Given the large land area and available export markets, Kazakhstan has everything necessary to develop the agro-industrial sector. We see the amount of work that has been done in creating the excellent investor protection mechanisms that are available to investors now. We trust the country and have already invested approximately $700 million into projects implemented in Kazakhstan,” said Abbas Sahin.
In turn, Yerzhan Yelekeyev thanked the Turkish investor’s representatives for contributing to developing various sectors of Kazakhstan’s economy, emphasizing the national company’s readiness to provide comprehensive support in implementing the promising project.

We highly appreciate that Turkish companies continue to trust Kazakhstan and actively use support measures to implement their projects successfully. Your trust and investments indicate strong partnerships and open new horizons for our mutual development,” noted the Chairman of the Executive Board.
Earlier in 2023, Alarko entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, following which it has been in search of land plots in the cities of Taraz, Shymkent, and Turkestan region.
Alarko is making new investments in the agriculture and food industries. Meanwhile, the Turkish company already focuses on agricultural technologies, agricultural technologies, auxiliary fruit cultivation in greenhouses, organometal fertilizers, product processing, and marketing.
