Upon reaching the design capacity from 2025, the annual output will be 90 thousand kg of king prawns. It is planned to sell about 72 thousand kg annually in the domestic market, and about 18 thousand kg for export to the Russian Federation, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Azerbaijan.
Project
This investment project (hereinafter referred to as the "Project") is planned to build the second phase of a shrimp farm in the village. Erkin, Talgar district, Almaty region. The project provides for the expansion of the production capacity of the existing shrimp farm from 45 tons to 135 tons per year.
Company
The initiator of the Project is Folle Faart Central Asia LLP. Folle Faart Central Asia LLP has put into operation the first stage of a shrimp farm, the products are produced under the Krevetka.kz brand. Currently, with an annual capacity of 45 tons, the Company produces shrimp in four standard sizes: 30/40, 21/25, 16/20 and 13/15.
Market
- In 2021, the global shrimp production level was 172 thousand tons, up 13% compared to 2020. Shrimp production is forecast to reach 219 thousand tons by 2026 at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) for the period 2021 -2026 at 5%.
- To date, Kazakhstan has not developed its own production of shrimp on an industrial scale. All products consumed in the country are imported.
- The country mainly imports frozen shrimp, the import volumes of which in 2021 reached 1,046 tons or 6,806 thousand US dollars at CAGR for the period 2017-2021. at 16%.
- Company experience. The project team of the Folle Faart Central Asia LLP launched the first stage of a shrimp farm on 2,000 sq. m, consisting of 16 pools, with a total production capacity of about 45 tons of king prawns per year. When growing shrimp, the company applies an innovative technology using a bioreactor. The products are manufactured under the Krevetka.kz brand.
- Low competition. To date, the production of shrimp on an industrial scale has not been developed in Kazakhstan, with the exception of the production of Initiator. A significant volume of products consumed in the country is imported from abroad.
To implement the Project, funding in the amount of USD 2,645 thousand is required, including:
- 70% (USD 1,852 thousand) - debt financing (subject to collateral);
- from 30% (794 thousand US dollars) - investor participation.
